Shame

Shame
Shame

Many liberals feel that President Obama has betrayed them on the torture issue. They feel surprised, I guess.

I am not surprised at all. President Obama is not King Obama. He does not really lead us. We actually lead him.

And, not surprisingly, most Americans do not want a probe into the torture issue. Now the president can go against the will of the majority, the will of his boss.

But think about your own boss. How many times did you want to tell him or her what they could do with their memos? But you didn't, did you? Because you didn't want to lose your job.

Of course, the president probably makes a lot more money than you do. He probably has a lot more money than you do. But he also invested a lot more in getting his job than you probably invested in getting your two-bit job. In a way, he has more to lose than you do. And thousands of people who work under him also depend on his decisions. If he goes against his boss, they may lose their jobs too.

So, these thousands naturally are inclined to to tell him to follow the wishes of his boss, us.

Yes, the president wants to keep his job for 8 years, not just 4 years. And he doesn't want to be prematurely removed by impeachment and conviction. And he wants his party to maintain control of Congress.

Now, that might sound cynical to you, but such cynicism is the stuff that freedom and democracy is made of. That same freedom and democracy that over 4000 young Americans thought they were giving their lives for in Iraq. Many of them gave their arms and/or legs for it, or their eyes or their brains or their minds or their souls.

So, my fellow liberals, quit whining to the president. The buck does not completely stop with him. It stops with your fellow immoral Americans.

Those Americans who are ok with torture as long as the victims are people of color.

Shame continued
Shame continued

Yes, I hear we are in a post-racial age because we now have a black president.

Some people have a very good sense of humor, I guess.

We have a black president because most Americans are desperate thanks to the incompetent white president who preceded the black one, but more to the point, thanks to our own lack of morality.

I know the Bible tends to contradict itself, but I think most Americans should have known it was immoral to invade Iraq.

Yes, President Bush did lie to us. He did not mislead. He lied. Scott McClellan says he "misled" us. Of course McClellan still has some respect for his former boss and friend or maybe he just respects the office of the presidency so much that he doesn't want to use the correct word, which is LIED. Bush lied. I say call it what it is. Bush, Cheney and Rummy lied, period.

But just cursory but honest review of history will tell you that politicians lie to start stupid wars. Presidents have lied to start stupid wars. Certainly most Americans must realize by now that you can't trust the word of a politician.

As Micheal Moore indicated: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
